Inflammation

Inflammation is the body's natural response to injury or infection. When tissues are damaged or threatened, the immune system releases chemicals that cause blood vessels to widen, increasing blood flow. This results in redness, warmth, swelling, and sometimes pain in the affected area. Inflammation helps deliver immune cells to fight off infection and promotes healing. However, if it’s excessive or ongoing, it can lead to tissue damage and contribute to chronic diseases. Essentially, inflammation is a vital defense mechanism, but it needs to be well-regulated to maintain health.
