Paul Ehrlich

Paul Ehrlich was a German physician and scientist known for his groundbreaking work in immunology and chemotherapy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is best recognized for developing the first effective treatment for syphilis, called Salvarsan, which was a significant advance in medicine. Ehrlich also introduced the concept of the "magic bullet," a targeted treatment method that aims to destroy disease-causing organisms without harming the host. His contributions laid the foundation for modern medical practices, particularly in the fields of immunology and pharmacology. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1908.
