Syphilis

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacteria Treponema pallidum. It often starts with a small sore or ulcer at the infection site, usually on the genitals, but can also appear in the mouth or anus. If untreated, it progresses through stages, leading to skin rashes, fever, and more severe health issues affecting the heart, brain, and other organs. Syphilis can be effectively treated with antibiotics, especially in its early stages. Regular testing, especially for sexually active individuals, is important for prevention and early intervention.
