Fertility Rate Models
Fertility rate models study how many children women are likely to have in a given population. These models incorporate factors like age, economic conditions, education, healthcare access, and cultural attitudes towards family size. By analyzing patterns and trends, researchers can predict future population growth or decline. Two common models are the replacement-level fertility, where the average number of children equals what’s needed to maintain the population, and the total fertility rate, which estimates the average number of children born to a woman over her lifetime. Understanding these models helps policymakers plan for future demographics and resource needs.
