Age-Specific Fertility Rate (ASFR)
Age-Specific Fertility Rate (ASFR) measures how many babies a woman is expected to have in a specific age group, usually expressed per 1,000 women in that age group per year. It helps understand at which ages women are most likely to give birth, revealing patterns and changes in fertility behavior over a lifespan. For example, higher rates typically occur in late teens to early thirties, then decline afterward. ASFR is useful for demographic studies, planning healthcare services, and assessing population growth trends.
