Immunopathology

Immunopathology is the study of how the immune system can cause diseases. While our immune system normally protects us from infections, it can sometimes react inappropriately. This can lead to conditions like allergies, autoimmune diseases (where the body attacks its own tissues), or chronic inflammation. In clinical pathology, understanding immunopathology helps doctors diagnose and treat these conditions by recognizing the underlying immune processes involved in the disease. Essentially, it bridges the knowledge of the immune system's role in health and disease, enabling better patient care.
