Agar diffusion method

The agar diffusion method is a laboratory technique used to test how well a substance, like an antibiotic, can inhibit the growth of bacteria. In this method, a gel-like substance called agar is poured into a dish, and bacteria are spread evenly across its surface. Then, small wells are made in the agar, and the substance being tested is placed in these wells. As it diffuses through the agar, it creates a concentration gradient. If the substance is effective, a clear area will appear around the well, indicating that bacteria cannot grow there. This visual result helps researchers assess the substance's effectiveness.
