Consciousness
Consciousness, in philosophy of mind, refers to your personal awareness of thoughts, sensations, and environment. It's the internal perspective you experience every moment - when you feel, think, or perceive things. It's what goes away when you're in deep sleep and returns when you wake. It's closely associated with being self-aware and is fundamental to your identity and sense of self. It's an ongoing mystery as to how and why it arises from the physical brain, hence a key point of debate in the philosophy of mind.
