Bergson's Duration
Bergson's concept of Duration refers to the perception of time as a subjective experience, distinct from the mechanical, mathematical measurement of time. He argued that human experience of time is fluid and qualitative, shaped by emotions and memories, rather than simply quantitative and rigid. This means that moments feel longer or shorter depending on how we experience them—joy, for example, can make time fly, while boredom can stretch it. In essence, Duration highlights the personal and experiential nature of time in our lives, contrasting it with the objective, clock-based time used in science and daily schedules.
