Frank Jackson is an influential Australian philosopher known for his work in philosophy of mind and language. He is best known for the "Knowledge Argument," which argues that no amount of physical knowledge can fully explain human experiences, like seeing colors. To illustrate this, he created the thought experiment of Mary, a brilliant scientist who knows everything about color but has never seen it. When she sees color for the first time, she gains new knowledge, suggesting that subjective experiences cannot be captured by scientific facts alone.
