Eliminativism

Eliminativism is the philosophical view that certain mental states, like beliefs and desires, do not actually exist in the way we commonly understand them. Instead of seeing these mental states as real, eliminativists argue that they should be replaced with a scientific understanding of brain processes. In contrast to functionalism, which suggests mental states can be defined by their roles in behavior and interactions, eliminativists believe our everyday understanding of the mind is flawed and should be discarded in favor of a more accurate scientific perspective on how the brain works.
