The eliminative materialism argument

Eliminative materialism is a philosophical view that argues our common-sense ideas about mental states—like beliefs, desires, and feelings—are flawed and will eventually be replaced by scientific explanations. It suggests that features of our everyday psychology are illusions, much like outdated theories in science that get replaced over time. Instead of thinking of mental states as real, internal things, eliminative materialism claims they are patterns of brain activity that science will perfectly understand in the future, making our current mental concepts unnecessary or wrong.
