Theoretical identity theory
Theoretical identity theory suggests that mental states, such as thoughts and feelings, are fundamentally the same as physical brain states. In other words, every mental experience corresponds directly to a specific physical process in the brain. This viewpoint implies that understanding brain activity can fully explain mental phenomena, and mental states are not separate from physical states but are identical to them at a biochemical or neurological level. It’s a way of linking the mind and brain in a scientifically testable manner, emphasizing their unity rather than viewing them as separate entities.
