Philosophical Zombies

Philosophical zombies (or "p-zombies") are hypothetical beings identical to humans in every way except that they lack conscious experience. They behave like us, responding to stimuli and expressing feelings, but have no inner awareness or sensations. This concept is used in discussions about the "hard problem of consciousness," which questions how subjective experiences arise from physical processes in the brain. If p-zombies are conceivable, it suggests that physical explanations of the brain may not fully capture what consciousness is, highlighting a gap in our understanding of how and why we experience the world.
