Afghan National Army
The Afghan National Army (ANA) was the military force of Afghanistan established in the early 2000s after the fall of the Taliban regime. It aimed to defend the country and support democratic governance. The ANA, supported by international allies, faced challenges including corruption, desertion, and adapting to a landscape of ongoing conflict. It played a significant role in combating insurgent groups, particularly the Taliban. However, after the U.S. withdrawal in 2021, the ANA collapsed, leading to the Taliban's rapid return to power, which raised concerns about stability and security in Afghanistan.
