Daoud's reforms
Daoud's reforms refer to the changes implemented by Mohammed Daoud Khan, who became the Prime Minister of Afghanistan in the late 1950s and later its first President. His reforms aimed to modernize Afghanistan, focusing on economic development, education, and infrastructure. He sought to reduce foreign influence, particularly from the British and Soviets, while promoting a more nationalist agenda. Daoud emphasized state-led industrialization and modernization projects, healthcare improvements, and promoting women's rights. Despite some successes, his policies also faced resistance and contributed to political instability, which eventually led to his downfall in 1978.
