Mohammad Daoud Khan was an Afghan politician and military leader who served as the Prime Minister of Afghanistan from 1953 to 1963 and later as the country's first President from 1973 until 1978. He played a significant role in modernizing Afghanistan and sought to reduce foreign influence, particularly from the Soviet Union and the United States. Daoud Khan’s tenure was marked by efforts to develop infrastructure and promote education. His rule ended in a coup, leading to his assassination.
