National Parcham Party
The National Parcham Party was a political group in Afghanistan founded in 1975 by Babrak Karmal. It emerged from a communist party and aimed to promote Marxist ideals within Afghanistan. Parcham, meaning "flag" or "banner" in Persian, represented a more moderate, reformist wing of the broader communist movement in the country. The party played a significant role in the country's political landscape, especially during the Soviet-backed government from 1979 to 1989. Its influence diminished after the Soviet withdrawal and subsequent conflicts, but it was central to Afghanistan's communist era politics.
