ISAF (International Security Assistance Force)
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was a NATO-led mission established in 2001 to help stabilize Afghanistan following the U.S. invasion that ousted the Taliban. Its primary goals were to secure the country, support the Afghan government, and assist in rebuilding efforts. ISAF provided training for Afghan security forces, aimed to improve security, and sought to combat terrorism. Over the years, forces from many countries participated in ISAF, which officially ended its mission in December 2014, transitioning responsibilities to Afghan forces while continuing to support them through the Resolute Support mission.
