Afghan National Security Forces
The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) were the military and police forces of Afghanistan, established to maintain security, combat insurgents, and uphold law and order. They were formed after the fall of the Taliban in 2001, with support from international partners, particularly the United States. ANSF included the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police. Their primary goal was to ensure Afghanistan's stability and sovereignty. However, following the withdrawal of international forces in 2021, the ANSF faced significant challenges, leading to the rapid takeover of the country by the Taliban.
