Operation Enduring Freedom
Operation Enduring Freedom was a military campaign launched by the United States and its allies in October 2001, following the September 11 attacks. Its primary objective was to dismantle al-Qaeda, the terrorist group responsible for the attacks, and remove the Taliban from power in Afghanistan, as they were harboring al-Qaeda. The operation aimed to promote stability and prevent future terrorism. It marked the beginning of a prolonged military presence in Afghanistan, leading to international efforts to rebuild the country and combat extremist groups, continuing until the formal end of combat operations in 2014.
