Tora Bora
Tora Bora is a mountainous region in eastern Afghanistan, known primarily for its caves and rugged terrain. It gained international attention during the U.S. military operations following the September 11, 2001 attacks, as it was believed to be a significant hideout for Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda leaders. In late 2001, U.S. and Afghan forces launched a major assault on the area to capture or kill bin Laden. The operation highlighted challenges in locating and engaging elusive targets in difficult landscapes, and bin Laden ultimately escaped during the conflict, remaining at large for nearly a decade afterward.
