Afghan Wars

The Afghan Wars refer to a series of conflicts in Afghanistan, most notably the First Anglo-Afghan War (1839-1842) and the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-1880) between British forces and Afghan tribes. Later, the Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989) involved Soviet troops fighting against Afghan mujahideen resistance. Most recently, the U.S.-led invasion in 2001 aimed to dismantle the Taliban after the 9/11 attacks, leading to a protracted conflict. These wars highlight Afghanistan's strategic importance and the challenges of foreign interventions, resulting in significant impacts on Afghan society and global geopolitics.
