Northern Alliance
The Northern Alliance refers to a coalition of various anti-Taliban groups in Afghanistan that fought against the Taliban regime, particularly during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Primarily composed of ethnic Tajiks, Uzbeks, and Hazaras, the alliance was led by figures like Ahmad Shah Durrani and General Muhammad Fahim. They gained international support, especially from the United States, after the September 11 attacks in 2001. The alliance played a crucial role in the military campaign that led to the fall of the Taliban government later that year, helping to establish a new Afghan leadership.
