Ayman al-Zawahiri was an Egyptian physician and a prominent militant leader, known for his role as the head of al-Qaeda after the death of Osama bin Laden in 2011. He was involved in extremist activities throughout his life, advocating for violent jihad against perceived enemies of Islam. Zawahiri played a key role in the planning of various terrorist attacks, including the September 11 attacks in 2001. His leadership focused on expanding al-Qaeda's influence worldwide. He was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Afghanistan in July 2022, marking a significant moment in the fight against terrorism.
