Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) was a military campaign launched by the United States in October 2001 in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The primary objective was to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which was providing them shelter. OEF marked the beginning of the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, aiming to eliminate terrorist threats and promote stability in the region. It involved various military operations and cooperation with international allies until the mission formally ended in December 2014, although U.S. military presence continued in various capacities thereafter.
