The Pashto Language
Pashto is an Indo-Iranian language primarily spoken in Afghanistan and Pakistan, with around 50 million speakers. It is one of the two official languages of Afghanistan, alongside Dari. The language has rich literary and oral traditions, with poetry being particularly significant. Pashto uses the Perso-Arabic script and has several dialects, reflecting the diverse cultures of its speakers. This language plays a crucial role in the identity of the Pashtun people. In addition to its historical significance, Pashto is increasingly relevant in geopolitical contexts due to the region's political dynamics.
