Viktor Frankl

Viktor Frankl was an Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor who developed the concept of logotherapy, which emphasizes finding meaning in life, even in the face of suffering. He believed that our primary drive is not pleasure (as Freud suggested) or power (as Adler proposed), but the search for purpose. Through his experiences in concentration camps, Frankl observed that those who maintained a sense of meaning—whether through love, work, or personal values—were more resilient. His ideas contribute to existential philosophy, highlighting human capacity for choice and the importance of individual responsibility in creating a meaningful life.
