Al-Ghazali

Al-Ghazali was an influential Islamic philosopher and theologian who contributed significantly to discussions about God’s existence and attributes. He argued that God is necessary for the existence of the universe, emphasizing that everything contingent relies on a necessary being—God—who is self-sufficient and eternal. Al-Ghazali also examined divine attributes, insisting that God possesses qualities like mercy and wisdom, yet remains utterly unique and beyond human comprehension. His work aimed to reconcile faith with reason, underscoring that while we can know God through signs in the world, His essence is ultimately beyond our full understanding.
