Shafi'i school of thought
The Shafi'i school of thought is one of the four main Sunni Islamic legal schools, founded by Imam Al-Shafi'i in the 8th century. It emphasizes the Quran and Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) as primary sources of law, along with consensus (ijma) and analogical reasoning (qiyas). Shafi'i jurisprudence is known for its structured methodology, aiming to derive legal rulings based on clear textual evidence. This school is prominent in various countries, including Egypt, Indonesia, and parts of East Africa, influencing religious practices, legal interpretations, and educational systems within those communities.
