Imam Shafi'i was a prominent Islamic scholar and jurist born in 767 CE in what is now Gaza, Palestine. He is best known for founding the Shafi'i school of thought in Islamic jurisprudence, which emphasizes the importance of the Quran, the Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad), consensus, and analogy in legal reasoning. His contributions helped establish a systematic approach to Islamic law that has influenced millions of Muslims worldwide. Shafi'i's key work, "Al-Risala," outlines principles of legal theory and remains foundational in many Islamic studies today. He passed away in 820 CE in Egypt.
