Ash-Shafi'iyya
Ash-Shafi'iyya is one of the four main schools of thought in Sunni Islam, founded by Imam Al-Shafi'i in the 9th century. It emphasizes the importance of both the Quran and Hadith (the teachings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad) as primary sources for Islamic law, alongside consensus (ijma) and analogy (qiyas) when necessary. Shafi'i jurisprudence is known for its systematic approach to legal reasoning and is practiced widely in regions like East Africa, Southeast Asia, and parts of the Middle East. It seeks to provide clarity and guidance for daily life and moral decision-making within an Islamic framework.
