Shafi'i Methodology
The Shafi'i methodology is one of the four main schools of Islamic jurisprudence. Founded by Imam al-Shafi'i in the 8th century, it emphasizes a systematic approach to understanding and applying Islamic law. The methodology relies on four primary sources: the Quran, the Sunnah (teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad), consensus (ijma), and analogy (qiyas). Shafi'i scholars prioritize these sources in a specific order, which helps guide legal rulings and ethical decisions. This approach seeks to ensure that interpretations of Islamic law are coherent, consistent, and applicable to various contexts.
