Islamic burial practices
Islamic burial practices prioritize respect and dignity for the deceased. The body is washed and shrouded in a simple white cloth, known as a kafan. Burial is typically conducted soon after death, preferably on the same day, facing the Qibla (the direction of Mecca). A simple grave is dug, and the body is placed in it without a coffin, if possible, directly into the ground. Prayers, known as Janazah, are often recited before burial, conveying a communal support for the deceased. Family and friends may gather to offer condolences, emphasizing the importance of community and remembrance in Islam.
