Ibn Sina (Avicenna)

Ibn Sina, known in the West as Avicenna, was a Persian polymath from the 10th century, renowned for his contributions to philosophy, medicine, and science. He is best known for his influential medical text, "The Canon of Medicine," which organized medical knowledge and served as a standard reference in Europe and the Islamic world for centuries. Avicenna made significant advances in understanding diseases and their treatment, as well as the concept of the scientific method. His philosophical works merged Aristotelian thought with Islamic theology, contributing to both Eastern and Western intellectual traditions.
