
Al-Ma'mun
Al-Ma'mun was a prominent Abbasid caliph who ruled from 813 to 833 CE. He is best known for his support of science, philosophy, and the arts during the Islamic Golden Age. Under his leadership, the House of Wisdom in Baghdad flourished, becoming a center for translation and knowledge where scholars from various cultures collaborated. Al-Ma'mun also promoted rational thought and the study of ancient texts, helping to preserve and expand knowledge from the Greek, Persian, and Indian traditions. His reign significantly influenced the development of science and culture in the Islamic world and beyond.
