Al-Ikhwan al-Safa

Al-Ikhwan al-Safa, or "The Brotherhood of Purity," was a philosophical and intellectual society that emerged in the Islamic world during the 10th century in Basra. Comprising a group of scholars and thinkers, they sought to promote knowledge, ethics, and the unity of different cultures and sciences. They wrote an influential encyclopedia, covering topics like philosophy, mathematics, and ethics, blending Islamic teachings with ancient Greek, Indian, and Persian knowledge. Their work aimed to elevate humanity's understanding and moral standing, advocating for a harmonious society rooted in intellectual and spiritual enlightenment.
