Islamic mysticism (Sufism)
Islamic mysticism, or Sufism, is a spiritual dimension of Islam that emphasizes the pursuit of a direct, personal experience of God. Sufis seek to deepen their inner connection with the divine through practices like meditation, poetry, music, and dance, fostering love and compassion. Central to Sufism is the idea of purifying the heart to overcome the ego and worldly distractions. Sufi orders, known as tariqas, guide seekers on this spiritual path, promoting communal worship and mentorship, while focusing on inner transformation and divine love, distinguishing themselves from more orthodoxy-centered Islamic practices.
