Sparta

Sparta was an ancient Greek city-state known for its strong military culture and austere lifestyle. Located in the region of Laconia, it was famous for its rigorous training program for male citizens, called the agoge, which emphasized discipline, physical fitness, and combat skills. Spartan society was hierarchically structured, with citizens (Spartiates), non-citizen residents (Perioikoi), and helots (state-owned serfs). Spartans prioritized collective over individual interests and were known for their austere living and warrior ethos. Their military prowess was exemplified in battles like the Battle of Thermopylae, where they became symbols of courage and sacrifice.
