Peloponnesian League

The Peloponnesian League was a military alliance in ancient Greece, primarily led by Sparta, formed around the 6th century BCE. It included various city-states from the Peloponnesian peninsula that sought to protect their interests against rivals, particularly Athens and its own alliance, the Delian League. The League played a crucial role during the Peloponnesian War (431–404 BCE), where Sparta and its allies fought against Athens' naval power. This conflict ultimately reshaped the political landscape of ancient Greece, leading to Spartan dominance for a time before the rise of other powers.
