Ancient Sparta
Ancient Sparta was a prominent city-state in Greece, known for its military-oriented society and strict social structure. Unlike other Greek cities, Sparta emphasized discipline, endurance, and communal living. Spartan boys began military training at age seven, and the society was ruled by a dual monarchy and a council of elders. Spartans valued strength and bravery, often engaging in wars with neighboring states, particularly Athens. Their unique way of life, called the "Spartan agoge," focused on developing skilled warriors, making Sparta renowned for its military prowess, especially during the Peloponnesian War in the 5th century BCE.
