Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is a condition where the arteries, which carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body, become narrowed and hardened due to a buildup of fatty deposits, cholesterol, and other substances. This buildup, known as plaque, can restrict blood flow and lead to serious health issues like heart attacks and strokes. Factors such as high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, and a sedentary lifestyle can increase the risk of developing atherosclerosis. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and managing risk factors are important for prevention and treatment.
