Delhi Sultanate
The Delhi Sultanate was a series of Muslim kingdoms that ruled much of North India from the 13th to the 16th centuries. It began with the invasion of Muhammad Ghori, leading to the establishment of the Mamluk Dynasty in Delhi. The sultans expanded their territory and promoted trade, culture, and architecture, leaving a lasting impact on Indian society. Notable rulers included Iltutmish, who consolidated power, and Alauddin Khilji, known for his administrative reforms. The Sultanate set the stage for the later Mughal Empire, blending Persian, Islamic, and Indian cultures.
