Mamluk Dynasty (Delhi Sultanate)
The Mamluk Dynasty, also known as the Slave Dynasty, was the first ruling dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate in India, established in the 13th century. It emerged after the decline of the Ghurid Empire and was founded by former slaves who rose to power. The Mamluks were known for their military prowess and significant contributions to architecture and culture in northern India. Notable rulers included Qutb al-Din Aibak and Iltutmish. Despite being short-lived, this dynasty laid the groundwork for future Muslim rule in India and influenced the region's political and cultural landscape.
