Iltutmish

Iltutmish was a significant ruler of the Delhi Sultanate in India during the early 13th century. He was originally a slave who rose to power and became the Sultan in 1211. Iltutmish is known for consolidating his rule, establishing a more structured administration, and promoting Islamic governance. He introduced a system of coinage and was pivotal in defending against Mongol invasions. His reign marked the strengthening of the Sultanate's foundations, setting the stage for future rulers. Iltutmish is also recognized for supporting the influential Sufi, Qutb al-Din Bakhtiyar Kaki, further enhancing Islamic culture in the region.
