Battles of Tarain
The Battles of Tarain were two significant conflicts fought in the 12th century between the forces of the Ghurid Empire, led by Muhammad of Ghor, and the armies of the Chahamanas (or Chauhans), particularly Prithviraj Chauhan. The first battle in 1191 ended in a victory for Prithviraj, while the second battle in 1192 saw Ghor's forces defeat him decisively. These battles marked the beginning of Muslim rule in northern India and set the stage for broader Islamic conquests, impacting the region's political landscape for centuries. They symbolize the shifting tides of power during that era.
