Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Insulin is a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels. Without insulin, blood sugar levels can rise dangerously high, leading to serious health complications. This condition usually develops in children or young adults, although it can occur at any age. People with Type 1 Diabetes require lifelong insulin therapy to manage their blood sugar and maintain their health. Unlike Type 2 Diabetes, it is not caused by lifestyle factors and cannot be prevented.
