Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting is a competitive sport where athletes perform two main lifts: the snatch and the clean and jerk. In the snatch, the lifter lifts a barbell from the ground to overhead in one fluid motion. In the clean and jerk, the barbell is first lifted to the shoulders (clean), then pushed overhead (jerk). It requires strength, speed, technique, and flexibility. Olympic weightlifting is featured in the Olympic Games and emphasizes explosive power and precise form, making it both a physical challenge and a demonstration of athletic skill. Competitors aim to lift the heaviest weight possible in their category.
