Weimar Republic
The Weimar Republic was Germany's government from 1919 to 1933, established after World War I. It aimed to create a democratic society, adopting a new constitution that granted civil rights and universal suffrage. However, the republic faced significant challenges, including economic hardship from war reparations, hyperinflation, and political instability, with extremist parties gaining popularity. Despite cultural achievements in art and science, the Weimar Republic struggled to maintain support. Ultimately, it collapsed when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party rose to power, leading to the dictatorship that marked the end of this democratic experiment.
