Treaty of Rapallo

The Treaty of Rapallo, signed in 1920 between Germany and Soviet Russia, marked a significant diplomatic agreement following World War I. Both nations, isolated internationally due to the war and the Treaty of Versailles, sought to improve their relations. The treaty established economic cooperation and military collaboration, allowing Germany to secretly develop its military in Russia, which was prohibited by the Versailles Treaty. This agreement reflected a broader strategy for both countries to counter Western powers and laid the groundwork for future cooperation between them, culminating in alliances during World War II.
